MEET PSYCHIATRIST, DR. WHITNEY SIMONE

This is support that looks at the whole picture.

Whitney Simone, psychiatrist in in Trumansburg, NY, with blonde, curly hair and blue eyes sitting in a chair, wearing a black and white floral patterned dress, with a wooden cabinet in the background.

Comprehensive psychiatry, therapy, and women’s mental health care in Trumansburg and across New York & Pennsylvania.

You’re not imagining this. There’s more to the story.

I often support patients balancing careers, relationships, kids, aging parents, and the constant pressure of functioning at a high level (no matter how overwhelmed they actually feel inside). Many have spent years compensating for and living with symptoms that no one has fully helped them understand. Others are concerned that doing something different might lead to negative side effects, feeling unlike themselves, or simply trading one problem for another.

Far too often, these women, perhaps like you, are rushed, dismissed, or reduced to a prescription. I recognize this challenge and that you’ve likely been looking for answers and solutions long before you ever arrived here.

You deserve care that actually makes a difference and takes all you’re experiencing seriously.

What I offer:

Thoughtful psychiatric care

Therapy & medication support in one place

Hormone-informed mental health treatment

ADHD and autism evaluation and support

Lab work and root-cause investigation

Real conversations about side effects & symptoms

Collaborative treatment planning

HOW I WORK

You can finally stop trying to piece everything together on your own.

Whitney Simone, psychiatrist in in Trumansburg, NY, with blonde hair typing on a keyboard in a cozy room.

There’s a difference between functioning and actually feeling well. That’s why I believe in an approach that goes far beyond traditional “med management” or surface-level symptoms. Together, we start with a thorough assessment and a lot of curiosity. Women’s health is rarely about just one thing, so to understand the full picture and ultimately discover what you really need, I prioritize learning about your:

  • Mental health history

  • Experiences with hormones

  • Lifestyle

  • Sleep

  • Stress levels

  • Personal goals

  • Daily habits

A cozy indoor scene with a round wooden side table holding a coffee mug on top of three books, surrounded by green and gray upholstered chairs, with a wooden side table, window blinds, and hardwood floor in the background.

Considering all these factors and more provides us with a path toward meaningful next steps. This may include lab work or paying attention to other pieces (nutrient deficiencies, PMDD, or side effects) that are frequently and easily overlooked when the focus is only on “fixing” you.

Medication can be part of the picture, yes, but it’s never the only tool—and never the starting point by default. My focus is on using what’s truly helpful, minimizing what isn’t, and making sure treatment actually improves the quality of your life.

Most importantly, I want you to feel comfortable here. I strive to make this an environment I’d personally send a family or friend to—a place where we can laugh and be real together. A place where you can feel safe enough to be honest about your experiences, knowing that you’ll be truly heard. Thoughtful psychiatric care doesn’t have to feel cold, intimidating, or transactional. My goal is for you to leave here feeling more understood, more informed, and a little less alone in all of this.

I believe that…

  • Many of the women I work with are used to pushing through, over-functioning, and carrying far more than anyone realizes. Part of this work is creating a life and treatment approach that actually feels sustainable.

  • Heightened hormones, anxious, overwhelmed, irritable, disconnected, or mentally foggy don’t automatically point to one simple explanation. I believe in thoughtful, nuanced care that makes room for complexity instead of rushing toward labels or quick conclusions.

  • I’ve built my psychiatric practice on the foundation that my patients need more than just simply being handed a treatment plan. I’m here to help you make sense of what’s going on so you can feel informed, empowered, and involved in your care.

  • There’s a difference between getting through your day and actually feeling present. We, of course, don’t strive for perfection here; we’re going after a more steady, capable, and connected future where you’re in the driver’s seat and you feel like yourself again.

  • I take this work and what my patients are experiencing seriously, but that also doesn’t mean it’s impersonal or too clinical. You deserve expertise and a provider you can actually talk to.

Training & Education

My clinical approach combines traditional psychiatric training with advanced education in women’s mental health, hormonal transitions, ADHD, autism, and the complex relationship between mind and body.

I work to help women feel in control of their health, connected to their bodies, and capable of handling whatever comes their way—with thoughtful care that validates what they’re experiencing by turning over all the other stones first.
